Realms of Sinjhan is an online RPG, based on javascript and php with message boards for character development and role play, as well as javascript and php based battles, both against other players and random monsters. In certain forums, you will even be randomly attacked by monsters, due to those areas of the "world" being dangerous.

Gold is earned through posting and through battling monsters/players, and as you defeat more monsters, you will recieve more experience, levelling your character up.

ROS is still in it's beta form, but in the future there will be quests that will allow you to gain experience and gold as well, once you complete them.

Spells and weapons are already available, the list growing daily, as well as monsters. However, the staff currently only consists of one, Alisaadi, and thus updates are slower than they could be. People interested in helping out with the game should contact Alisaadi directly through the ROS game website PM system.

I would love to hear what y'all think of the website and/or game, and what you think it could use more of. Of course, since it's still in Beta form, everything is in flux, so your comments and suggestions will definately be used in the days and weeks to come. Currently ROS is in Beta Version 0.4.

Hrmmm... I'm using Opera 9, 1024x768 resolution, dial-up.

Having no interest in RPGs, I'll just review the layout and give some general comments. If I hadn't read your description of your site, I wouldn't have known what it was for. I suggest putting a short introduction on the index page of what the site is about so people who just stumbled into your web site would get an idea on your site.

Squinting my eyes a bit because the text was too small, I can see you placed on the upper right that it's best viewed on a 1024x768 screen resolution. That's my resolution now and to me, the layout seems a bit too narrow. Try making it wider. It will also reduce the scrolling down.

Speaking of scrolling down, there's a space at the bottom. Try removing the bottom margin so it'll be consistent with the top having no margin. Also, that way, it wouldn't look cut-off. Also, on top, there's a black border which seems out of place. Is that supposed to be there? If it is, I think it'd look better if you crop it off. It also gives your design a cut-off look.

The blue boxes with the links are kind of hard to read. It's better if you make them larger. By the way, the column where it says "Forum" has a white background in the middle which overlaps the blue gradient. Probably an error?

Regarding the top image, I'm assuming that girl is one of the characters in the RPG. I suggest you put other characters on top too. I like variety and it'll make people think that there are other characters to choose from.

Hrmm... Looking at it closely, I can see that the design has parts on top that are 1 pixel off. Haven't looked at your code so I can't suggest a solution. It could probably be because of the way you cropped the image. It should be easy enough to fix.

That's all I can say. I like the colors you used. Good luck on it smile..

I have to agree with Miko. I think it needs a summary. There is nothing that tells what it is. To me at first glance it just looks like another forum. But I do like the graphic work and design. I didn't look at the coding, but I think if you just change the body margin & padding to 0px or auto, it should get rid of the empty space at the very bottom. The text could be a little bigger. Personally, I never use em's (I don't know if that is what you use or not) I always use 12px no matter what font, & I have yet to hear any complainants from anyone.

Thanks so very much,
Hev

Thanks so much for your help, guys. I've been working on the site -- the url has changed to http://rpg.mellonin.net -- and I could use your help again. A lot has changed, and while I think it's turning out to be pretty good, I'm not sure.

Alas, there is not yet a summary, but other than that, what do y'all think? I'm working on a player handbook which will explain how to attack, how to move around in the world, etc. It will explain pretty much every aspect of the game, but it's still in the works.

Thanks again for all the help, and here's to hoping for your continued help XD

When I went there, there isn't any web site title. It's important to add that. As for the design, it's cute. It reminds me of Super Mario Brothers. I like the bright colors, however, the text is a bit hard to read because it doesn't have enough contrast with the background. Try lightening the background a bit. And, right now, I'm on 1280x1024 screen resolution and the text is really small. Try making it bigger.

By the way, the "play" part was hard to read. I was wondering for a while what it was and when I turned my head sideways, I finally figured out what it said. If you really want to put it sideways, you can change the font for better legibility.

World Map isn't available yet so I think you should put the link there if it is available. The top links direct me to a forum. I also had a hard time reading the text because of lack of contrast with the background. Try making your text lighter. The forum also doesn't match the index page. At least try to make their colors similar so I wouldn't think I wandered off to a different unrelated site.

Speaking of titles, if I was a first time visitor, I really wouldn't know what this site was about. So, if you don't type up any kind of introduction, at least you should have a title with a short description of what your site's about.

That's it. I haven't really played RPGs before but I did click on the "play" link and so far, it looks cute. That giant mushroom looks yummy grin.
